With Elon Musk stepping down from overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will we ever have a clear understanding of what was accomplished?

DOGE has not lived up to the ambitious promises made by Musk, Trump, and others. Instead of benefiting the United States, its misguided strategy has weakened our position both domestically and globally. It’s time to reevaluate its impact and reconsider the approach. However, this is unlikely to happen with the current administration, which tends to portray everything as a win, even when it is not.

We may never know the full extent of the damage caused by DOGE or how beneficial it was in streamlining certain parts of the government.

What is DOGE?

Despite its formal name, Doge is not an official government department, as such entities can only be established through an act of Congress. Instead, this advisory body was created by an executive order signed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to the order, part of Doge’s mission involves IT upgrades aimed at enhancing efficiency, and it is expected to complete its work by July 2026. Notably, many of Doge’s staff members appear to be young individuals with technology backgrounds and limited or no prior government experience.
